Dr. Nikea Hurt has spent her career working collaboratively with teachers to create learning environments that foster students’ interest and inspire them to achieve at high levels.   In 2016 as an elementary principal, she led her school to earn recognition as a Title I Reward School: Highest Progress for distinction in improvement in student achievement.  That same year she was named Educator of the Year and was presented with the “Bridge Builder Award” from Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Incorporated Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter.  Prior to her role as principal, she served as an elementary assistant principal, a district-level instructional coach for elementary and middle school mathematics and a fifth-grade teacher.  Dr. Hurt earned her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from Morris Brown College and holds a Master’s Degree in Adult Instruction from Central Michigan University.  Additionally, she holds Educational Specialist degrees in Educational Leadership from both Argosy University and Mercer University, as well a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University. Dr. Hurt looks forward to joining the Linwood Holton team on July 2, 2018.
